Binder Heating & Air Conditioning has been a family owned heating and air conditioning business for over 80 years. The business was started in 1927 by Andrew & Ida Binder as an architectural sheet metal shop (sheet metal and gutter work primarily). When the fledgling company started, it was operated out of their garage. Their son, Jerry Binder, worked for them, and after World War II, the company was passed down to Jerry.

Under Jerry, the business grew, and he moved the company into a formal shop on Butler Street in West St. Paul.  Jerry has worked at the family business his whole life, and even today continues to come in to work in our shop fabricating materials for the men working in the field.  His hard work and drive to push the company  laid the firm foundation for the company.

Jerry's nephews Dick Binder and Eugene Binder started working in the shop when they were young, and when Jerry decided to retire as president in 1963, the brothers took over the business. Dick and Eugene shifted the company from an architectural sheet metal shop to heating and air conditioning company. Again Binder Heating was growing, and to accomodate the growth, the business moved to the current location on Hardman Avenue in South St. Paul in 1987.  Our current location houses all of our offices as well as a sheetmetal shop.

In 2001, Rick Binder (Dick's son) took over sole ownership of the business and is the current president.  The company is in its fourth generation of family ownership. From a young age, Rick worked around the shop and in the field. With his experience in the field and hard work ethic, the company expanded relationships with customers and companies and grew.  You can find Rick in the office meeting with builders, discussing with customers their options in heating or cooling their homes, or out at job sites, checking for the quality of work that Binders is known for. He is a licensed sheet metal worker and a member of the local union.

Currenlty, Binder Heating & Air Conditioning is a union shop with over 25 licensed gas fitters and sheet metal workers in the field doing residential and commercial work in new construction, remodeling, and replacements.  There is also 24 hour emergency service line that allows our customers the best service any time of the day or night.
